On 18 December 2020, to mark the International Migrants Day, the Council of Europe´s Intercultural Cities programme invited citizens of the member cities to engage and participate in sharing their stories by sending a portrait photo or a short video featuring “Proud of my intercultural city!”.
This year, the Intercultural Cities programme wanted to engage and give voice to the citizens regardless of their origins and backgrounds. The campaign targeted citizens living in an Intercultural City and those who wanted to show that they were proud of it in their language.
The observance of International Migrants Day was an opportunity to dismantle prejudices and raise awareness of migrant’s contributions in the economic, cultural and social fields, for the benefit of both their country of origin and their country of destination.
