Further to the accession to Convention 108 by Mexico on 1st October 2018, INAI (National Institute for Transparency, Access to Information and Personal Data Protection) is organising a regional event dedicated to the Convention and gathering representatives from Chile, Peru and Uruguay.

Speakers from other regions of the world are also participating in the event, from Africa, Australia and Europe. Ms Alessandra Pierucci, Chair of the Committee of Convention 108, will be giving a European perspective on the modernised Convention, notably with regard to its articulation with the data protection legal framework of the European Union, the GDPR in particular. The Head of the Data Protection Unit, Ms Sophie Kwasny, will be focusing on the universal nature and potential of the Convention.

The public event will be followed by a closed session between INAI members and staff and international participants, to dive in more details into the benefits of Convention 108+.
