ICANN63 Annual General Policy Meeting took place from 20 to 25 October 2018 in Barcelona. Among the most discussed policy issues are the next generation of WHOIS registry services and ICANN strategy in the global Internet Governance Forum (IGF). The Data Protection Unit presented the Guide to Privacy and Data Protection Principles Guide for ICANN related data processing recently adopted by the Committee of Convention 108. The guide could assist ICANN and its communities to formulate a position on the CEO’s new proposal for a unified access model and to deliberate on temporary specifications of the next generation of WHOIS registry services within the Expedited Policy Development Process (EPDP).
