On 26 March 2026, CyberSouth+ and INTERPOL Momentum-MENA held an online working meeting joined by criminal justice practitioners in the interest of informing them about the development of an operational toolkit intended to address technology-facilitated violence against women for the MENA region.
The meeting brought together professionals with hands-on experience in investigating, prosecuting, and adjudicating cases of technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) from Ministries of Justice, Public Prosecution Offices, and law enforcement agencies from across the priority countries. The participants shared practical insights drawn from their national contexts, providing a first-hand basis for shaping the toolkit's content and structure.
Currently under development, the toolkit will serve as an operational resource for criminal justice professionals in the MENA region. It will address the legal and institutional landscape of cyberviolence against women in the region, the application of relevant substantive and procedural criminal law provisions in line with international standards, practical guidance on handling TFGBV cases, and victim-centred and trauma-informed approaches, as well as international cooperation mechanisms.
The initiative builds on an earlier joint training course on cybercrime and electronic evidence for women investigators and prosecutors, and is expected to be finalised and launched in May 2026.
