The Bern Convention advocates for climate action on Earth Day 2020

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, members of the Bureau of the Bern Convention have prepared a short video message to remind of the importance of conservation of biodiversity in the face of climate change. Protection of habitats and species which provide essential eco-system services for humans, e.g. food, water, clean air, resources for building, medicine, etc. is and will continue to be a non-negotiable undertaking to sustain our planet and provide a future for our generations.

The Chairperson and three members of the Bureau stress the links between the actvities of the Bern Convention and climate action, and recall the work that the Convention is carrying out in that regard, including the Emerald Network, the European Diploma for Protected Areas, and the biodiversity and climate change connection.
