Venice hosts Council of Europe Visibility Days Seminar for regional journalists

On 9 June 2026, as part of the Council of Europe’s Visibility Days Initiative, the Council of Europe Venice Office, in collaboration with the Order of Journalists of Veneto, organised a specialised training course titled “Communicating Europe Today.”

The course, held in the historic Sala San Leonardo, was designed for regional journalists tasked with navigating a rapidly evolving European landscape, where insightful reporting on international developments and a nuanced grasp of the Council of Europe’s mission are essential to their professional practice.

The seminar opened with an overview of the Council of Europe’s latest initiatives and activities, providing valuable context for the discussions that followed. With the contributions of distinguished speakers, subsequent sessions offered in-depth reflections on the evolving responsibilities of journalists when reporting on European and international affairs, and explored essential topics in geopolitics and global strategy, engaging participants in the complex challenges facing today’s media landscape.

The lectures culminated in a lively question-and-answer debate, encouraging active participation and in-depth discussion among attendees. One of the highlights of the Q&A was the insightful discussion on the impact of the New Democratic Pact for Europe, which sparked considerable interest.

The event was presented and moderated by Carlo and Andrea Mazzanti, respectively Director and Co-Editor-in-Chief of the international affairs journal Atlantis. The seminar effectively strengthened professional knowledge of the Council of Europe’s mandate and its Visibility Days Initiative.
