Résumé
L’enseignement des langues étrangères, qu’elles soient vivantes ou classiques, a des objectifs éducatifs qui sont à la fois humanistes et fonctionnels ; c’est ce qui ressort du discours sur l'enseignement de ces deux groupes de langues, mais aussi que l’importance conférée à ces objectifs n’est pas la même pour l’un et l’autre de ces groupes. Sur cette toile de fond, le Conseil de l'Europe a élaboré des instruments qui contribuent à l’amélioration des processus d’enseignement, d’apprentissage et d’évaluation des langues vivantes étrangères.

Résumé
Le projet Langues dans / pour l’éducation promeut une approche intégrée de l’enseignement et de l’apprentissage des langues. Celle-ci suppose un partage des responsabilités relatives à l’acquisition de compétences en langues entre tous les enseignants dans les établissements scolaires – enseignants de la langue de scolarisation comme matière aussi bien que ceux des langues secondes/étrangères ou des autres matières. Dans ce document nous examinons les objectifs de l’enseignement des langues étrangères et des langues comme matières, ainsi que ceux de l’enseignement des/dans les langues minoritaires et langues d’enseignement des autres matières, en soulignant la nécessité d’identifier des objectifs communs.

Résumé
Le Portfolio européen des langues (PEL), dont le concept est né en 1997, a été officiellement lancé en 2001. Aujourd’hui, cet instrument est utilisé dans près de trente Etats membres du Conseil de l’Europe (au printemps 2010, cent sept modèles avaient été accrédités). Destiné à soutenir l’apprentissage et l’utilisation des langues secondes et étrangères (L2), le PEL ne concerne qu’une partie des aspects traités dans le projet Langues dans l’éducation/Langues pour l’éducation. ? Mais l’expérience pédagogique acquise au cours des dix ans de mise en œuvre du PEL peut-elle être utilisée au profit du nouveau projet ?
