On 23 and 24 October 2018, CoE/EU Horizontal Facility Action against Economic Crime in Montenegro organized a two-day workshop on changes to the reporting templates for political entities, currently used in the country. The workshop brought together thirty-five participants, including representatives of various political entities, such as political parties and independent candidates, as well as the two key oversight bodies involved in the process, the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption and the State Audit Institution. The participants discussed proposed changes to the reporting form for electoral campaign funds with Council of Europe experts, and reflected on current challenges to financial reporting and rules on expenditures. In addition, through interactive exercises, participants got the chance to fill in the new reporting forms with expert guidance and consultation with the two oversight authorities. The Agency for the Prevention of Corruption will adapt the financial reporting form ahead of the next elections based on the inputs received.
The activity was organised within the framework of the Council of Europe Action against Economic Crime which is being implemented in Montenegro under the joint Council of Europe and the European Union programme “Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey”.
