During the last week of February 2019, representatives of relevant bodies from six jurisdictions of the Western Balkans and Turkey will meet in Tivat, Montenegro, to discuss the need for and best approaches to assessing risk from terrorist financing among non-profit organizations.
Through the regional workshop on “Performing Risk Assessments to Counter Terrorist Financing in the Non-Profit Sector” the Council of Europe seeks to develop a common understanding among practitioners and policy makers with regards to standards and comparative practices related to terrorist financing, risk assessments and the supervision of Non-Profit Organisations (NPO).
During this two-day event, participants will have the opportunity to discuss with Council of Europe experts relevant international standards (mainly Financial Action Task Force standard), their practical application in the form of sectoral risk assessments, and development of oversight and other mitigation measures reflecting the risks identified in the process.
The Workshop will take place in the framework of the joint European Union/Council of Europe Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey, with support for the Kosovo* participants by the EU/CoE Project against Economic Crime in Kosovo*(PECK II).
