Training sessions for trainees in Courts and State Prosecutor`s Offices in Montenegro “Implementation of the Code of Ethics for judges and state prosecutors”

Nearly a hundred trainee magistrates from all courts and state prosecutor`s offices in Montenegro were involved in the training sessions on the implementation of the Codes of Ethics for Judges and Prosecutors, held on 2-3 April 2019 in Kolasin, Montenegro. Trainees passed the entry exam to the careers of judge and prosecutor during the last year and undergo a year long period of education and field experience in courts/prosecution offices to which they are assigned.

During these sessions, organised by the Council of Europe Programme Office in Podgorica in cooperation with the Center for Training in Judiciary and State Prosecution Service (JTC), the key principles of the Code of Ethics for judges and prosecutors and international standards were presented to the trainees and the implementation of the Code of Ethics discussed with the JTC trainers.

The programme included practical sessions during which the participants discussed case studies through which they were faced to various ethical dilemmas and decided on the responses and correct choices that are more ethical not only for themselves but also for their court or prosecution office.

The training sessions took place in the framework of the Action “Accountability of the Judicial System”, jointly funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe.
