Judges and prosecutors from courts and prosecution offices in the southern region of Montenegro participated in a training on the implementation of the Code of Ethics. The event took place on 7 December 2018 in Budva and was organised by the Council of Europe Programme Office in Podgorica in cooperation with the Center for Training in Judiciary and State Prosecution.
The trainers, a judge of the Supreme Court and a prosecutor of the Supreme State Prosecutor`s Office of Montenegro, presented to their colleagues the international and national standards and rules of ethics. The trainers focused on the importance of their implementation since judges and prosecutors have a significant role not only in the judicial system, but in the society as a whole.
practical part of the training session linked the rules to the real situations which the judges and prosecutors are dealing with. Cases presented by the trainers encouraged participants to discuss the adequate ethical actions of a judge or a prosecutor in certain situations.
This training session, the third one of a series, was organized in the framework of the Action “Accountability of the Judicial System”, jointly funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe. The same Action organised two training sessions on the same topic for judges and prosecutors from the central and northern regions of Montenegro.
