The consultative meeting held on 22 March in Budva, Montenegro, provided state prosecutors who will undergo professional evaluation in 2019 with a meaningful platform for discussion.

Main aim of the meeting, organised by the Council of Europe Programme Office in Podgorica in cooperation with the Prosecutorial Council and the Center for Training in Judiciary and State Prosecution, was presenting the relevant legal framework, the evaluation procedures and the experiences gained through the implementation of the professional evaluation of prosecutors in Montenegro so far.

Participants - prosecutors and representatives of the Prosecutorial Council Commission for professional evaluation of prosecutors - concluded that further efforts are needed to strengthen professionalism and quality of work of prosecutors. Thus, it was proposed to analyze the results of the evaluation procedure and relevant criteria of professional appraisal in order to improve the upcoming evaluation procedure in the coming years.

The meeting took place in the framework of the Action “Accountability of the Judicial System”, jointly funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe.
