Following the adoption of the Code of Ethics for the employees of the Institute for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions in Montenegro, developed within the auspices of the Action, a series of workshops were organised to familiarize the prison staff with the provisions of the new Code. Nearly 100 employees of different professional profile learned about the content of the document that sets the basic principles of a sound professional conduct. The workshops were used as an opportunity to introduce the participants to the most important international standards in the field and to analyse their applicability in the national context. Acquirement and application of these principles will ensure inter alia better protection of prisoners’ rights, prevention of ill-treatment and corrupt practices.
