The Regional conference: The obligation to execute decisions of the European Court of HumanRights, will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019, from 10 to 17:15 in the Hilton Hotel (Bulevard St. Petar Cetinjski 2, Podgorica).
According to the number of applications before the European Court of Human Rights in relation to the number of inhabitants, Montenegro was among the first five countries last year. According to the Council of Europe data, the citizens of Montenegro mostly complained about the violation of the right to trial within a reasonable time, as is the case with applications from most European countries.
The conference will bring together representatives of the Constitutional Courts and judicial authorities of the countries of the region, senior state officials of Montenegro and representatives of the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
The conference will be opened by the representative of Montenegro before the European Court for Human Rights, Valentina Pavličić, and the participants will be welcomed by the Vice Prime Minister of the Government of Montenegro and Minister of Justice Zoran Pažin, HE. Aivo Orav, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro, President of the Constitutional Court of Montenegro Dragoljub Draskovic, President of the Supreme Court of Montenegro Vesna Medenica, Supreme State Prosecutor of Montenegro Ivica Stankovic and Head of the Department for South-East Europe and Turkey Council of Europe Daniel Schmidt.
Representatives of Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina before the Strasbourg court will take part in the discussions during the conference, and a special importance will be given to the conference by the Head of the Department in the Department for Execution of the European Court of Human Rights, Katarina Nedeljkovic. The event is held under the programme Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey funded by the European Union and co-funded and implemented by the Council of Europe.
