The ROMACTED 2 Support Team meeting took place in Podgorica on 12 July and gathered together the Project staff, Support Organisation as well as the group of newly selected facilitators.
The event was, above all, an opportunity for the team members to get to know each other and agree on the working methods and cooperation. At the beginning, the Focal point from NGO Mladi Romi, Mr Samir Jaha, presented the achieved results and lessons learnt from the ROMACTED Phase 1. The presentation provided an analysis of the situation in all the partner municipalities, invited to the second phase, which allowed for the facilitators to learn more about possible ways of further action. It was jointly concluded that the Programme created a good basis for continuation of action and gave significant results, primarily through the activation of Roma community members and the establishment of cooperation with the representatives of local authorities. However, there are still many initiatives and challenges that need to be addressed in the future work.
In the continuation of the meeting, the ROMACTED Programme Manager, Ms Marina Vasić, presented the second phase of the ROMACTED Programme with an emphasis on the new components: 1) mitigation of the consequences caused by the Covid-19 epidemic; 2) Roma responsive budgeting; 3) Reintegration of Roma returnees. The implementation of the small grants-scheme projects will be one of the novelties in Montenegro.
The Project Officer, Ms Milica Kovačević, presented the ROMACTED methodology. During the discussion, most essential discussion was wrapped around the work with the Community Action Groups (CAG) and cooperation with local authorities.
The Joint EU-CoE ROMACTED Phase 2 Programme (2021 - 2024) will be implemented in the following seven municipalities: Bar, Berane, Bijelo Polje, Herceg Novi, Nikšić, Tivat and Ulcinj.
