Republic of Moldova joins the Observatory on History Teaching in Europe as observer state

On 7 May 2022, the Republic of Moldova joined the Observatory, as an observer, following validation by the OHTE Governing Board of the application submitted  by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration on 11 April 2022. The Observatory now stands at 16 member states and 2 observer states.

The Republic of Moldova joins the Observatory on History Teaching in Europe at a crucial moment in its first years of existence; its first thematic report (due in December 2022) as well as its first report on the state of history teaching in Europe (due by the end of 2023) are currently being developed. Meanwhile, a new joint project between the European Union and the Council of Europe (HISTOLAB) – launched on 1 May 2022 – will support co-operation in the field of history education.

The importance of enlarging the Observatory’s membership was highlighted on numerous occasions during OHTE’s First Annual Conference, as well as during our latest webinars.
