MONEYVAL Chair takes part in the Regional Consultation for Non-Profit Organisations of Asian-Pacific Region

Elżbieta Frankow-Jaśkiewicz, Chair of MONEYVAL, took part in the 5th and final regional consultation for non-profit organisations of Asian Pacific region from July 25th to 27th, which was organized by the EU Global Facility in collaboration with the Global NPO Coalition on FATF.

The Regional Consultation brought together 50 NPO representatives from the APG and Central Asia countries, including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Thailand as well as from Croatia, Georgia, the Netherlands, the Republic of Moldova, Russia and the UK, as well as representatives of the APG Secretariat, the EU delegation as well as the authorities of the host country, Indonesia.

Discussions focused on the upcoming revision of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Recommendation 8 Best Practices Paper (BPP) by the FATF. The Chair of MONEYVAL contributed to the discussions by providing insights into the state of play regarding the conclusions of assessments conducted under the 5th evaluation round by MONEYVAL with respect to the implementation of the FATF Recommendation 8, including challenges and best practices to improve the effectiveness of measures designed to combat money laundering and terrorist financing while safeguarding the legitimate activities of NPOs in MONEYVAL member states and territories.
