MONEYVAL Executive Secretary

Lado LALICIC is the Executive Secretary of MONEYVAL since 1 June 2024. 

In his role, Mr LALICIC leads the MONEYVAL Secretariat, which brings together expertise to combat money laundering, the financing of terrorism and the proliferation financing.

As Executive Secretary he advises the MONEYVAL President, Vice Presidents and Bureau Members, and is responsible for supporting MONEYVAL Plenary meetings. Mr Lalicic works closely with MONEYVAL’s 35 member jurisdictions, with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and FATF Style Regional Bodies.

Mr LALICIC closely engages with the relevant Council of Europe’s bodies and with key international partners, including the IMF, the World Bank, the United Nations, the European Union, EGMONT Group, among others. 

Each year, the Executive Secretary and the Chair of MONEYVAL submit and present an annual activity report to the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers. This report provides updates on the  implementation of AML/CFT/CPF international standards in the states and territories evaluated by MONEYVAL.

Mr LALICIC holds a post-graduate degree in International Law and Diplomacy.

MONEYVAL Secretariat

MONEYVAL is assisted by a Secretariat provided by the Council of Europe. The MONEYVAL Secretariat is a highly motivated, multicultural and dedicated team of professionals. It brings together individuals from various Council of Europe member states, with many years of experience in law enforcement agencies, financial intelligence units, policy and governance structures and legal profession.

The Secretariat supports the substantive and administrative work of MONEYVAL and contributes to the Global Network’s priorities. The Secretariat is located at the Council of Europe Headquarters in Strasbourg.
