South-East Europe and Turkey
Currently, the Division is providing support to the authorities of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Kosovo*, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey in their endeavor to protect human rights. The focus is on issues such as non-discrimination, freedom of expression, the fight against impunity and the implementation of human rights action plans, which were highlighted by Council of Europe monitoring mechanisms as areas of concern in the respective countries.
