On 25 and 26 June 2025, the European Youth Foundation visited the international activity “Youth for 2030” organised by European Educational Exchanges – Youth for Understanding (EEE-YFU), which took place at the natural Seezeit Resort at Werbellinsee, Germany. The international activity was realised in constellation with the broader event of the NGO, Youth Empowerment Seminar (YES) 2025, hosting more than 300 school students from around the world.
The international activity interplayed with the global seminar in a ripple effect manner: the 20 young youth workers that comprised the direct target group of the activity followed an interdisciplinary journey to enhance their facilitation skills, focusing strongly on raising awareness and encouraging action for the Sustainable Development Goals. Having concluded an e-learning course on facilitation in advance, the participants were the main educators and facilitators of the activity and were tasked to design and deliver non-formal education sessions for the 300 youngsters attending the broader YES event. The 300 students could choose to follow one from 5 different tracks of learning, led by the 5 groups of young facilitators. The learning tracks engaged them in a blend of artistic and non-formal methodologies, resulting in inspiring and thought-provoking results, such as forum theatre performances, debates and upcycled utility objects and works of art.
Through this innovative and horizontally organised training activity, the young facilitators received an important opportunity to improve their facilitation skills for nurturing global competences and fostering social responsibility among youth.
The EYF monitoring visit offered a fertile ground to discuss the Council of Europe’s youth sector priorities and its unique co-management system, which involves young people in decision-making processes.
The “Youth for 2030” project is supported by the EYF through a grant for international activities. More information for this type of support can be found at the following link: What is an international activity? - European Youth Foundation
