Eurimages offers financial support in the form of sponsorships through three‑year cycles to selected projects, initiatives and events aimed at promoting gender equality and/or diversity and inclusion within the film industry.

During the past cycles, sponsored initiatives under the Fund’s previous Gender Equality Strategies have included events, promotional activities, residencies and training programmes with a focus on female filmmakers.

NEW: Since 2027, the scope has been enlarged to support in addition to gender equality, initiatives that promote diversity and/or inclusion within the film industry.

The implementation of the initiatives during the period 2027–2029 is governed by the specifications as set out in the Call for proposals document published in early 2026.

Further to the recommendations by the independent experts, the Board of Management has decided to support during its meeting on 25 and 26 June 2026, the following initiatives for sponsorship of film and audiovisual events contributing to the promotion of Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the film industry for the cycle 2027–2029:

• EFM Toolbox – The Toolbox Alumni Lab (Germany)
• Forum RIDM - Doc Lab Montreal (Canada)
• Sisterhood of Young Animation Auteurs (SYAA) (Romania)
• StepIn – Locarno International Film Festival (Switzerland)
• The Red Balloon Alliance

Eurimages also offers patronage (i.e. sponsorships that do not involve a financial contribution from the Fund) for film-related initiatives in the areas of gender equality, diversity, and inclusion. Applications for patronage are not covered by a call. They must be submitted in accordance with the guidelines on patronage.

In 2026, patronage was renewed for CIRCLE Women Doc Accelerator and Fiction Orbit.
