Last night, the last 2025 New Eurimages Lab Awards were presented at the closing ceremony of CPH:FORUM.
The Innovation Award, worth 20,000 euros and intended to support the development of an innovative and experimental project, went to A SANCTUARY OF STUFF, which will be directed by Francesca Tremulo and Eszter Várhidi.
The jury for this award, made up of director Violeta Ayala (United Notions Film), producer Rémi Grellety (Warboy Films) and Elena Kotová (CZ) for Eurimages, decided to support a project with a radical openness. “A work that refuses the constraints of traditional storytelling and resists defining its audience. Instead, it asks us to reimagine our role as viewers and invites us into a space of collective creation. In a world obsessed with competition, this sanctuary of stuff acts as a disruption, a wake-up call for community, collaboration and creative resistance.”
The Outreach Award, worth 30,000 euros and intended to promote the audience outreach of an innovative and experimental project in the final stages of production, went to BECOMING LUCIEN, directed by Lucien Pin and Alex Haugmard and produced by Thibault Elie.
The jury for this second award, made up of programmer Hugi Gumilang (In-Docs), producer Marie Schmidt Olesen (Northern Souls ApS) and Emma Scott (Screen Ireland) for Eurimages, chose to support a project, which “offers an exploration of gender identity through an intimate virtual reality experience that transforms personal narrative into a powerful tool for empathy and understanding. By creating a compassionate dialogue between the present self and the childhood past, the project provides an unprecedented window into the transgender experience, challenging societal misconceptions and fostering genuine human connection.”

The 3rd and final edition of the 2024-2026 cycle of the New Eurimages Lab Awards will kick off in Rotterdam at the beginning of 2026.
7.02.2025 - During the closing ceremony of IFFR Pro which took place on 5 February, the second edition of the Eurimages New Lab Awards went to the following projects:
The €20,000 Innovation Award was handed out to the Dutch company Studio Biarritz for the project ONE CHARMING NIGHT by Robin Coops. The jury made up of the artist Tupac Martir (Satore Studio, UK), the sales agent Nelleke Driessen (NL) and Carole Kremer (Luxembourg Film Fund) for Eurimages, decided to reward a project “that seeks to spark conversations about consent, privacy and intimacy in the digital world”.
The €30,000 Outreach Award went to the French company La Belle Affaire Production for the film BLOQUES ERRÁTICOS directed by Thomas Woodroffe. The film is produced by Fiebre (Chile), La Belle Affaire (France) and Un Puma (Argentina). In choosing this project “which explores the ghosts of the past and their relationship with the modern world”, the same jury felt that the prize could “be instrumental in helping the filmmakers achieve their ambitious creative vision and outreach process that involves an international audience and the indigenous community”.
