The €20,000 Eurimages Co-Production Development Award presented as part of the Co-Production Village at Les Arcs Film Festival, went to Bogdan Mirică's project ONE HAND JESUS, which will be produced by the Romanian company deFilm.

The jury composed of Featurette founder and head of acquisitions Aranka Matits (DE/NL), producer Flavia Zanon at Close Up (CH) and Csaba Bereczki from the Hungarian National Film Institute for Eurimages, motivated its decision as follows:

“We would like to present the Eurimages award to a project that invites us to look with curiosity at a society that feels distant yet compelling, and tells a story that feels both deeply personal and rooted in its culture. We were drawn to this tender exploration of old age and illness, and appreciate how it brings humour to a topic that is - in real life - often unbearably heavy. We hope audiences will embrace the film - and discover as much richness and creative joy in it as we did in our conversation with this tight-knit filmmaking team.”

The next Eurimages Co-production Development Award will be presented at the Berlinale Co-Production Market on Sunday 15 February 2026.

24.11.205 - On Friday evening, the €20,000 Eurimages Co-production Development Award presented at the Baltic Event Co-Production Market went to THE WELL, written by Petra Koivula and directed by Siiri Halko, to be produced by Jenni Jauri of Finnish company Silmu Films. The jury - Katrin Pors (Snowglobe), Jörg Schneider (ZDF) and Els Hendrix for Eurimages (BKM) - praised the project as “a nuanced and emotionally perceptive portrait of a sisterly relationship destabilized by changing roles in a family.” The jury further noted that “this promising debut of young director Siiri Halko, produced by Jenni Jauri has the potential to be deeply affecting and cinematic.”

As part of Eurimages’ special measures to support the film industry in Ukraine, the same jury decided to grant an additional Co-production Development Award of the same amount to ALICE WANTS TO LIVE, written by Denys Sobolev and directed by Vitaliy Dokalenko, to be produced by Ukrainian company Ganzafilm. The jury stated that the project offers “a deeply atmospheric and emotionally truthful portrayal of post-traumatic intimacy, even as the trauma persists. Kyiv is depicted not as a battlefield but as an inhabited, scarred landscape, lending the film a discreet yet striking authenticity that sets it apart from more conventional war narratives.”

On Saturday evening in Turin, within the framework of TorinoFilmLab, a third €20,000 Eurimages Co-production Development Award was presented to HISTORY OF ILLNESS by David Gašo, to be produced by Croatian company Eclectica. The jury - Carole Baraton (Charades), Radu Stancu (deFilm) and Emma Scott (Screen Ireland) for Eurimages- remarked that “Nailing the absurdity of life while entertaining audiences is not an easy bet. But we are convinced that, with this youthful spark and confident energy, this debut director will rise to the challenge and deliver it with a truly distinctive voice.”

24.10.2025 - The €20,000 Eurimages Co-Production Development Award at the Junior Co-Production Market of the Cinekid for Professionals event in Amsterdam, went to the project DREAMSCAPE written by Saar Ponsioen.

The jury, composed of Nicholas Sando (Filmbin, Norway), Valérie Yendt (Gebeka Films, France) and Ilse Ronteltap for Eurimages (Netherlands Film Fund), picked this project for “its innovative narrative blend of hybrid animation and live-action fiction, through which a family secret is revealed in an unexpected location”.

Produced by the Dutch company Juliet at Pupkin, Dreamscape is aimed at a young audience and combines animation with live-action storytelling to explore themes of memory and intergenerational connection through the eyes of a child.

25.08.2025 - At the closing ceremony of the 2025 edition of CineLink at the Sarajevo Film Festival, the Director for Democracy at the Council of Europe, Matjaž Gruden, handed out the Eurimages Co-Production Development Award of €20,000 to Dorka Vermes' project PLACES HALF EMPTY, which will be produced by the Hungarian company Non Lieu Film Productions.

The jury, composed of Mariusz Wlodarski (Lava Films), Michel Zana (Dulac Distribution), Gudny Hummelvoll (Hummelfilm), and Stefan Prohorov (National Film Centre in Bulgaria) for Eurimages, chose to reward a film that "embodies artistic excellence, courage, and integrity. It transcends borders to gently challenge conformity, upholding the very essence of European values: dignity, inclusion, and the celebration of our differences."

9.07.2025 - The Eurimages Co-production Development Award at the 2025 edition of KVIFF Eastern Promises went to the project Battalion records, written and directed by Ștefan Bîtu-Tudoran, to be produced by Diana Caravia from the company microFILM in Romania.

The jury made up of Josef Kullengård from the Göteborg Film Festival, Slovak producer Zuzana Mistríková and Ilse Ronteltap, representative of the Netherlands at Eurimages, decided to award the €20,000 cash prize to a bold debut that confronts the decay of culture, “Because sometimes, to make people listen, you must turn things upside down – and this absurdist heist comedy does so with rebellious energy”.

In the framework of Eurimages’ special measures in favour of the Ukrainian film industry, an additional prize of the same amount went to the project IN VACUO, written and directed by Yelizaveta Smith, to be produced by Eugene Rachkovsky from the company Tabor in Ukraine. The jury members were proud to reward this Ukrainian feature debut set in Odessa, adding that “The film explores the universal impact of loss and how absence shapes both individuals and communities, highlighting the importance of remembering before it's too late”.

10.04.2025 - Last night, the Ukrainian project ASHES SETTLING IN LAYERS ON THE SURFACE by Zoya Laktionova won the Eurimages Co-Production Development Award, a cash prize of 20,000 euros awarded as part of the industry programme of Visions du Réel in Nyon (CH). This documentary will be produced by Natalia Libet from 2Brave Productions (UA), in co-operation with Victor Ede from the French company Cinephage Productions.

The jury, composed of Tamara Tatishvili (Hubert Bals Fund, IFFR, NL), Gianluca Matarrese (Bellota Films/Stemal Entertainment, FR/IT) and Eleni Chandrinou (GR) for Eurimages has chosen to reward ‘a story which celebrates an ambitious artistic proposition emerging from a deeply personal invitation to travel into a modern industrial fairytale shaped by lived experiences, physical memories of a city that is political, intimate and imagined at the same time.’

6.03.2025 - The winner of the €20,000 Eurimages Co-Production Development Award at Cartoon Movie is the project ZAKO to be directed by Tigran Arakelyan and produced by OnOff Studio (Armenia), in collaboration with Sacrebleu Productions (France).  The jury made up of Mika Siltala (Cinema Mondo, Finland), Pascale Dillemann (Under the Milky Way, Spain) and Noémi Kahn for Eurimages (Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée – CNC -, France) was “glad to support a project that will allow audiences to discover a true story of an Armenian war victim and artist, bringing light to a barely known aspect of European history. This powerful and emotional journey will be enhanced by the creative use of new technologies. Beyond supporting a new talent, the prize also aims to reward the work of a production company committed to developing their animation industry." 
 

17.02.2025 - The Berlinale Co-Production Market granted the first Eurimages Co-Production Development Award of 2025 to the project IBICABA – VISIONS OF PARADISE, written and directed by Andrea Štaka and produced by Michela Pini, Olga Lamontanara and Andrea Štaka (CH). The jury, made up of producer Labina Mitevska (North Macedonia), distributor Øistein Refseth (Norway) and Eleni Chandrinou (Greece) for Eurimages, has chosen to award this 20,000 euros prize to a project by a passionate director who is bringing to light stories of underprivileged women in Switzerland in the 19th century. It is a film about colonialism, migration and women’s place in history.

As part of the Eurimages Fund's exceptional measures in support of the Ukrainian film industry, the same jury gave a Eurimages Special Award for Co-Production Development of the same amount to the project THE EARTH IS FLAT - I FLEW AROUND AND SAW IT directed by Maksym Nakonechnyi and produced by Daria Zakharova (Ukraine). This is a story that explores the distance between perception and reality, a theme particularly relevant to today’s world. The director offers a fresh vision and approaches the subject in a compassionate and humorous way.
