Convention 108+ and the GDPR : a common DNA

The 2019 Annual Conference on Data Protection organised by the Academy of European Law (ERA) is being held in Brussels (28-29 March) and gathering 120 participants.

This year’s edition started with a presentation by Sophie Kwasny, Head of the Data Protection Unit of the Council of Europe, of Convention 108 and its modernisation, allowing to set the scene and re-place the GDPR in a historical perspective. A broad variety of topics is addressed during this Conference, such as for instance artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, data retention or data protection impact assessments.
