Spring Conference welcomed the CoE support for cooperation within DPAs

The 32nd European Conference of Data protection Authorities (Spring Conference)  took place on 14-16 May in Riga, Latvia. The conference stands as the annual gathering for all data protection authorities (DPAs) across Europe to promote cooperation and to address the common challenges and best practices.

The Council of Europe was invited to deliver a speech which highlighted its commitment in the area of protection of privacy and personal data to ensure an appropriate protection of individuals in the digital age and to facilitate the creation of a free data transfer area among like-minded countries.

The Conference put emphasis on the cooperation and mutual support within the DPAs to address the emerging issues. In this regard, the Conference welcomed the support proposed by the Council of Europe to create a functional and operational network within DPAs, notably by making available additional means and tools and by proposing more cooperation activities.
