Data Protection Unit presents Convention 108+ in Montevideo

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the first legislation on personal data protection and access to public information in Uruguay a two days conference is being held in Montevideo on 16-17 October 2018. The conference which has been opened by the executive director of the national authority on internet governance (AGESIC), the president of the executive council of the national DPA (URCPD), the president of the executive council of the national authority for access to public information (UAIP) and the Secretary of the office of the President of the Republic is attended by high level stakeholders from the region (Argentina, Mexico, Chile) and Europe and aims at taking stock of the experience of the past ten years and discuss future challenges of taking into consideration the changes that occurred in the international and national legislative frameworks.

 

The Data Protection Unit is represented by Peter Kimpian who delivered a key note speech on the opportunities that the Global Data Protection Convention 108+ presents for its current and future Parties. Mr Kimpian also touched upon the interplay between ethics and protection of privacy and personal data in the Digital Era.
