As part of the development of an initial training program for judges on the topic "Strengthening the IT Skills of Judges," the CEPEJ, in cooperation with the Albanian School of Magistrates, organized a meeting on June 5, 2025, on the role and use of information technologies and artificial intelligence in modern judicial systems. The importance of using electronic case management systems and European best practices in this area were widely discussed.
The exchange aimed in particular to present to national counterparts involved in the development of the training curriculum, the CEPEJ's tools on cyberjustice, in particular the Guidelines on How To Drive Change Towards Cyberjustice and the European Ethical Charter on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Judicial Systems and their Environment.
In addition, it allowed to raise awareness of the prosecution service on importance of the use of the electronic case management system and its impact for the efficiency of justice.
The curriculum will then be enriched with national best practices and made available to judges as part of their initial training.
The activity was organised by the action Strengthening the Quality and Efficiency of Justice in Albania (SEJ IV) in the framework of the European Union/Council of Europe joint programme Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye (Horizontal Facility III), co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
