On 21 November 2024, the CEPEJ's European Cyberjustice Network (ECN) held its annual meeting to discuss the Guidelines on online alternative dispute resolution adopted by the CEPEJ in December 2023.
Following a presentation of the guidelines by Federica Casarosa, Professor at the European University Institute (Florence, Italy), some national practices were highlighted: The Portuguese online ADR platform RAL+ “Resolução Alternativa de Litígios” by Marta San-Bento, Head of Department for the Alternative Dispute Resolution, Ministry of Justice, Portugal, and Negotiation using algorithms by Graham Ross, Lawyer and Mediator, Founder Board Member of the International Council for Online Dispute Resolution, United Kingdom.
This year’s keynote, followed by a discussion, was given by Masha Medvedeva, Leiden University, the Netherlands, on the possibilities and limitations of legal technologies and their impact on legal practice.
The ECN is the CEPEJ’s forum for exchange and mutual learning on the digital transformation of judiciaries in line with Human Rights standards, composed of experts and practitioners directly involved in the digitalisation of courts.
