Improving the collection and analysis of statistics on the work of prosecution offices in Kosovo *

On October 10-11, 2022, CEPEJ experts Mr. Vincent Macq (Belgium) and Mr. Ivan Crnčec (Croatia) met with the Acting Prosecutor General, the Secretariat of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, as well as the Pristina Prosecutor's Office to discuss ways to improve the efficiency of the collection of statistics on prosecution offices through the Case Management Information System (CMIS). The experts emphasized that monitoring of prosecutorial activity is essential to avoid backlogs and delays in criminal prosecutions. They also exchanged with the beneficiaries on the communication and reporting mechanisms between the Prosecutors' Offices and the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council.

This activity is organised by the KoSEJ II Action “Strengthening the Quality and Efficiency of Justice in Kosovo”, which is part of the joint programme entitled "Horizontal Facility of the Western Balkans and Turkey II", co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.* This designation is without prejudice to positions on status, and is in line with UNSCR 1244 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo Declaration of Independence.
