Complexity in court cases can require the consultation of experts by the judge and the parties. Is Artificial Intelligence (AI) suitable to support the experts in their work and if yes under what conditions? Are there situations allowing the use of AI to provide expertise directly, without the handling of a competent expert?
On 11 March 2025, the European Cyberjustice Network (ECN) will examine todays role of AI in delivering judicial expertise. Nico Keijser, Vice President of the European Expertise & Expert Institute (EEEI) will present the requirements for AI’s safe use in this context. Livia Holden, Research Director (CNRS), Institut des Sciences Juridique et Philosophique de la Sorbonne, Chair of K-Peritia Action 22101 (funded by COST - European Cooperation in Science and Technology), will present CULTEXP, an innovative cross-jurisdictional database on cultural expertise.
