Discussions on the Project Progress, Priorities and the ways forward in Albania

An event to discuss the “Project Progress, Priorities and the Ways forward” took place on 11 March 2016 in Tirana, Albania. The aim of the event was to bring together representatives of the Judiciary, academia, national and International Organisations to present and discuss Project’s progress to date, its achievements, outcomes, further needs and priorities, and the way forward. The project continued for 2 years and successfully achieved all its objectives and aims. Recommendations were provided and are being implemented in several courts across Albania. Court chairpersons and chancellors, representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the High Council of Justice, the Office for Budget Administration, the Constitutional Court, the High Court of Albania, the School of Magistrates and International Organisations operating in Albania participated in the event. They highly appreciated the work performed by the project and expressed their huge interest in project continuation, in order to provide further support to the efficiency of the judiciary. This event was preceded by the 4th Project Steering Committee Meeting, with the main stakeholders working in the field of the Judiciary. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the Project’s progress to date, to adopt the Action plan, to discuss the results and recommendations for each of the three pillars of the project (Enhancement of efficiency and effectiveness of Courts and court proceedings; improvement of the status, organisation and professionalism of court staff and of the quality of the public service of justice and courts).
