On 6 May 2024 the CEPEJ carried out a training for the team in charge of monitoring the activity of the media at the Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crimes (SPAK), an independent body tasked with investigating and prosecuting high-level corruption and organized crime cases, established in 2019 as part of judicial reforms. This very first CEPEJ training was specifically aimed to support the efforts of the institution to enhance media communication during elections.
The participants were introduced to the CEPEJ Guide for the communication with the media and public, focusing particularly on crisis communication and communication on special cases and election related investigations.
In the course of the training, the team had the opportunity to further exchange on access to information, collection and handling of information and dissemination of information preserving the interests of the investigation.
The activity was organised by the action Strengthening the Quality and Efficiency of Justice in Albania (SEJ IV) in the framework of the European Union/Council of Europe joint programme Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye (Horizontal Facility III), co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
