The Working Group on the Quality of Justice (CEPEJ-GT-QUAL) met in Venice, Italy, on 12 and 13 October 2023. Discussions focused on the operationalisation of the principles of the Ethical Charter on the use of artificial intelligence in judicial systems with a view to the drafting of a document aimed at measuring the compliance of artificial intelligence tools with the principles of the Charter. The Group will also work on the draft comparative study on assessing the quality of judges' work, based on the analysis of the responses to the questionnaire circulated within the CEPEJ network earlier this year. The guidelines on online dispute resolution, elaborated by the Working Group on cyberjustice and artificial intelligence (CEPEJ-GT-CYBERJUST), in cooperation with the CEPEJ-GT-QUAL, has also been discussed. Finally, the Working Group exchanged on the possible topics to be included in its future 2024-2025 mandate in order to propose them to the CEPEJ at its December plenary meeting.
