Members of the Judicial Council of Montenegro and representatives of its Secretariat attended a workshop on strategic human resources management in the judiciary organised by the Council of Europe Programme Office in Podgorica on 12 December 2018 in Becici (Montenegro).

Participants discussed with the international expert, who conducted the workshop topics related to the resource rationalisation principles, the key function of the resources management and the key dimensions of quality of justice.

The part of the event dedicated to case studies on the human resources allocation system within the Italian judicial system compared to systems in other countries (the Netherlands, France, Finland and Hungary), with special focus on the application of the research findings to the Montenegrin judicial experience, triggered the debate among the participants.

Participants concluded that continuous training of staff in the judicial system is crucial for achieving its accountability and efficiency. Therefore, as the human resource management was recognised through earlier project activities as a priority training need, future activities in this field would be required.

This workshop was organised in the framework of the Action “Accountability of the Judicial System”, jointly funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe.
