Back 3rd meeting of CDCJ limited working group on administration and artificial intelligence (CDCJ-ADMIN-AI)

3rd meeting of CDCJ limited working group on administration and artificial intelligence (CDCJ-ADMIN-AI)

The third meeting of the CDCJ limited working group on administration and artificial intelligence (CDCJ-ADMIN-AI) took place on 10 and 17 July. The work on updating the handbook “Administration and You’, which was published by the CDCJ in 2018, progresses steadily. The working group aims to assist the member States to navigate the implications of the use of the algorithmic or non-algorithmic decision making used in administrative procedures, particularly how to translate the good administration principles into safer and transparent application of these technological tools.

The CDCJ-ADMIN-AI will hold its next meeting on 28-29 September in Strasbourg, aiming to finalise the update of the Handbook for its subsequent examination and possible adoption by the Committee during its 101st plenary meeting on 15-17 November 2023.

The CDCJ-ADMIN-AI has advised the CDCJ  on potential future work of the Committee in the fields of administrative law and artificial intelligence. It proposed to the Committee to develop a recommendation on the use of artificial intelligence for policing, the administration of justice, and borders/migration as part of the Committee's future work in the said fields. The CDCJ deliberated the proposal at its 100th Plenary meeting held on 30 May-1 June 2023, agreed with it, and decided to discuss the details of this activity at future plenary meetings.
