The protection of whistleblowers is an important issue currently on the European Committee on Legal Co-operation’s agenda. The Committee is currently evaluating the impact and effectiveness of Recommendation CM/Rec(2014)7, including its implementation in member States. Recommendation CM/Rec(2014)7 encourages member States to have in place a normative, institutional and judicial framework, including as appropriate collective labour agreements, to protect individuals who, in the context of their work-based relationship, report or disclose information on threats or harm to the public interest. 21 member States are actively contributing to this process.
