Back Alleged unsustainable logging within the Retezat National Park

This complaint was submitted in 2021 by a Romanian citizen and concerns logging activities within the territory of Retezat National Park in Romania, on the valley of Râul Alb.

According to the complainant, Retezat National Park is the first national park of Romania, a designated Natura 2000 site and European Diploma site, and one of the richest in biodiversity areas in the country being home to species such as the Brown bear (Ursus arctos), Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx), wolf (Canis lupus), and European otter (Lutra lutra). The complainant states that the logging activities will degrade and fragment the National park.

The compaint was dismissed in 2023 following a parallel on-the-spot visit of the EDPA.
