The Bureau to the Standing Committee of the Bern Convention held its second ordinary meeting of 2022 on 15-16 September in Strasbourg.

The Bureau assessed progress in the implementation of the Convention’s Programme of Activities for 2022/2023 and the results of or state of preparation of the thematic expert group meetings.

It also reviewed strategic work such as that of the Inter-Sessional Working Group on Finances and of the Working Group on a Vision and Strategic Plan for the Convention for the period to 2030.

The Bureau also discussed a number of case-files concerning alleged violations of the Convention, including new complaints received in recent months by the Secretariat. In particular, it reviewed the state of play of several on-the-spot appraisal visits taking place.
