11th Meeting of the Group of Experts on Protected Areas and Ecological Networks

The Group of Experts on Protected Areas and Ecological Networks held its 11th meeting on 7-8 October 2020 by video-conference.

The Group examined the results of the Reporting under Resolution No. 8 (2012) on the conservation status of species and habitats, took stock of the implementation of the Emerald Network calendar (2011-2020), drew up a post-2020 strategic workplan and discussed the opportunity to strengthen the legal framework of the Emerald Network, a proposal of monitoring framework for its implementation, the development of online tools including the Emerald Network Viewer, and the future perspectives of the Network.

The Group also discussed country specific issues such as the transfer of UK sites from the Natura 2000 network under the Emerald Network, the action plan taking place in Belarus, and further nomination of sites.

Finally, future work and a programme of activities for the Group of Experts were elaborated.
