22nd meeting of the Committee of the Parties

The 22nd meeting of the Committee of the Parties of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings was held in Strasbourg on 9 February 2018.

The Committee adopted recommendations addressed to the Governments of Belgium, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia and “the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia” as part of the second evaluation round of the Convention, as well as a recommendation addressed to the Government of Greece as part of the first evaluation round of the Convention.

The Committee also considered the report submitted by Switzerland concerning measures taken to comply with the Committee of the Parties’ first round recommendation on the implementation of the Convention. The Committee took note of the measures carried out by the Swiss authorities and decided to transmit the report to GRETA in order for it to be taken into consideration for the second evaluation round.

Further, the Committee considered reports submitted by Montenegro, Romania and the United Kingdom concerning measures taken to comply with the Committee of the Parties’ second round recommendations on the implementation of the Convention. The Committee decided to send letters to these three parties, asking them to provide further information on certain issues. The reports will be made public on the Council of Europe’s Anti-Trafficking website.

The Committee re-elected Ambassador Christopher Yvon (United Kingdom) as Chair and Ambassador Corina Călugăru (Republic of Moldova) as Vice-Chair for a second term of office, running until 9 February 2019.

The Committee decided to hold its 23rd meeting on 9 November 2018.
