Human Rights and Migration training was organised in Elazığ on 13-14 June and in Kayseri on 16-17 June 2022 for a group of lawyers of the Elazığ and Kayseri Bars, in cooperation with Union of Turkish Bar Associations within the framework of the Action on “Strengthening the human rights protection of migrants and victims of human trafficking in Turkey” under the European Union/Council of Europe Joint Programme Horizontal Facility II.
The content of the training was adapted according to the needs by national experts to ensure lawyers gained comprehensive knowledge on the rights of migrants and refugees and to ensure better protection of the rights concerned.
18 lawyers of the Elazığ Bar, in addition to the President of the Elazığ Bar Association Mustafa YENTÜR, and 29 lawyers from the Kayseri Bar, together with the President of the Kayseri Bar Association Ali KÖSE attended the 2-day training, respectively. The participants expressed their satisfaction, highlighting that their knowledge on the subject matter had increased thanks to this training, which mainly focused on the Council of Europe standards and international standards in the field of human rights and migration.
The training was organised within the framework of the Action “Strengthening the human rights protection of migrants and victims of human trafficking in Turkey”, which is a part of the European Union/Council of Europe collaboration titled “Horizontal Facility-II for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022”.
