The final cascade training marking the completion of a series of regional capacity-building activities delivered across the country. The event was organised as part of the Council of Europe Visibility Week and highlighted the shared commitment to strengthening human rights and good governance in the penitentiary system.
A total of 16 prison directors and staff working in the Black Sea region gathered to take part in the four-day programme led by experienced national trainers who had previously contributed to the development of the training curriculum. The sessions combined theoretical discussions with interactive exercises and case analyses, enabling participants to translate the principles of fair and proportionate disciplinary and reward measures into daily practice.
With the completion of the training, all cascade sessions foreseen under the project have been successfully implemented with around 190 participants. Through these training activities, prison directors and staff across Türkiye have strengthened their knowledge and skills in applying disciplinary and reward mechanisms in their everyday work, ensuring the long-term impact of the project at institutional and operational levels.
This training was organised within the scope of the Project on "Enhancing the Disciplinary and Reward Procedures for Prisoners in Türkiye” co-funded by Norway, the Human Rights Trust Fund of the Council of Europe, Belgium, Türkiye, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.
