Cascade training on discipline and reward procedure for prison staff in south-eastern Türkiye

A series of regional cascade training sessions are being delivered as the final phase of ongoing efforts to enhance knowledge and practices of prison staff on effective implementation of discipline and reward mechanism in line with international standards and best practices. Two cascade training sessions in Mardin bringing together 35 prison managers and staff were opened by the Chief Public Prosecutor of Mardin and President of Mardin Assize Court.

Four qualified trainers, who had contributed to developing the curricula, facilitated the parallel sessions. Participants actively engaged with the content through interactive case studies and showed strong interest throughout the training. The training consisted of four modules on various aspects of discipline and reward mechanisms based on adult learning principles, prepared by members of the working groups guided by international and national consultants of the Council of Europe.

By the end of the Mardin training programme, covering the south-east region, 14 trainers who have completed the project’s training-of-trainers programme will have delivered cascade training to 171 prison managers and staff in regional sessions, ensuring the sustainability of the outcomes of the project.

This training was organised within the scope of the Project on "Enhancing the Disciplinary and Reward Procedures for Prisoners in Türkiye” co-funded by Norway, the Human Rights Trust Fund of the Council of Europe, Belgium, Türkiye, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.
