Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland is paying an official visit to Estonia on 26 April to hold meetings with the President, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marina Kaljurand, and the Minister of Justice, Urmas Reinsalu. He will also meet the Estonian delegation to PACE.
A press conference is scheduled at 12pm on Tuesday 26 April at the press centre of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This visit comes ahead of Estonia’s six-month Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers, starting on 18 May. Discussions will focus on Estonia’s agenda for the Chairmanship, the situation of human rights, democracy and the rule of law, according to the Secretary General’s forthcoming third annual report. Other topics include media and Internet freedom, migration and human rights and the fight against xenophobia and hate speech.
