Call on the President of Lithuania not to sign the “Law on the Protection of Minors against the Detrimental Effect of Public Information” because of its homophobic content.

The Human Rights Committee of the Council of Europe INGO Conference,

Gravely concerned at a growing climate of intimidation and discrimination in Lithuania against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people;

Aware that on 16 June the Lithuanian Parliament passed a "Law on the Protection of Minors against the Detrimental Effect of Public Information” which, if it entered into force, would

Considering that this law would violate Lithuania's international obligations, including under the European Convention on Human Rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child;

Dismayed at this action by the Lithuanian Parliament,

Calls on the President of Lithuania to:
