The Committee on Culture, Science and Education, with Edouard Jagodnik, European Schools Federation (FEDE), in the chair,
1. adopted the agenda [CONF/CULT(2010)OJ3]
2. adopted the synopsis of the meeting of 27 April 2010 [CONF/CULT(2010)SYN2]
3. Activities since the last session:
§ Edouard Jagodnik reported on his participation and that of the Vice-Chair, Sabine Rohmann, at the Conference of Ministers of Education in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on 4 and 5 May 2010. In his view, the INGO statements had been very well received.
The main theme had been the role of teachers in the 21st century, a subject which Sabine Rohmann would be discussing in her sub-committee.
The DGIV, which had organised the Conference, had highlighted the importance of the NGOs’ participation, and the Ministers/Ministers' Deputies had listened with interest to the viewpoints expressed by Edouard Jagodnik and Sabine Rohmann.
§ Alain Mouchoux, the former Chairperson of the Committee and Vice-Chair of the Conference of INGOs, spoke about the importance of the adoption by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe Charter on Education in Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights.
4. Sub-Committee on Education – Chairperson: Sabine Rohmann
§ Information on the Conference of Ministers of Education held in Ljubljana (3-5 June 2010)
§ Information on the 2011 “Human Rights and Youth” Fair

5. Sub-Committee on Culture – Chairperson: Edouard Jagodnik
§ Working group on the “Identity of Europe”: Noël Orsat summarised the group’s work, with the production of seven documents to be circulated before the next session
§ Working group on the “Religious Dimension of Intercultural Dialogue”: James Barnett promised a written summary of the work for the next session and a final report for next January.
6. Sub-Committee on Science – Chairperson: Nina Belyaeva
§ Nina Belyaeva said that the questionnaire drawn up by the Working Group on the work of the “Experts” had been finalised and distributed. The results would be presented at the October session.
There would be a possible second phase geared to analysing the work carried out by the said experts.
