The Municipal Court in Sarajevo hosted, in
cooperation with the High Judicial Council of Bosnia and
Herzegovina, organised a central event in Bosnia
and Herzegovina celebrating the European Day for Civil
Justice on 23 October 2012.
The court opened
its doors for high school and law students as well as
media so that they could tour the court building.
There was a press conference at the court in order
to inform the media on the significance of the European
Day of Civil Justice.
The event included a
panel on Communication skills and a judge’s approach to
amicable (alternative) dispute resolution and mock
trial.

Free access to citizens and guided tours of
law school students.
From 8 am: Accredited
representatives of the court informed interested
persons on the work of the court, the importance of
information technology in the B&H judiciary (e-justice),
with special emphasis on the audio recording of the
trial.
11 am: Round Table: "Free legal aid -
Equal access to justice for all citizens."
The
round table has been organized with the cooperation and
support of the project "Access to Justice: Dealing with
the past and build confidence for the future, "United
Nations Development Program (UNDP B&H), and brought together representatives of ministries, courts,
prosecutors, attorney's office, the bar association, the
centers for social work and other governmental and
non-governmental organization in the Canton Middle
Bosnia, with the aim of presenting free legal aid system
as a first step in achieving equal access to justice for
all citizens.
The media has also been invited to
this special event.
