Seminar for prosecutors and judges on the “Allegations of Ill-treatment and Criminal Procedure”
The Council of Europe, in the framework of the EU/CoE Joint Programme “Reinforcing the Fight against Ill-treatment and Impunity” is organising a two-day seminar for prosecutors and judges on “Allegations of Ill-treatment and Criminal Procedure”. The seminar will be held at the High School of Justice on 26-27 January. It aims to increase the awareness of prosecutors and judges of safeguards against ill-treatment and the importance of an effective investigation into ill-treatment complaints. In addition to European standards for combating ill-treatment, experts will discuss the domestic legislation in this area and guarantees in practice against ill-treatment. The participants will also be given an opportunity to analyse recent cases of the European Court of Human Rights against Georgia. The seminar will be conducted by prominent Council of Europe experts with former prosecutorial experience.
