"I
firmly believe that the process of integration into European institutions is the
best prevention mechanism against renewed instability and violence," declared
Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze, supporting the Council of Europe's
reform during an address to PACE on Wednesday. The Georgian politician
emphasized his country's progress on governance, democracy's rules and
legislation in line with the Organisation's standards, especially on "zero
tolerance" policy against corruption. Moreover, he wished to the Assembly to add
Belarus' representatives among its members soon.
"For us democracy is a
question of human dignity. And human dignity is the right and the practical
possibility to shape the future with others", he said while quoting Olof Palme,
former Swedish Prime Minister.
