| A conference "The 2012 Parliamentary elections: lessons learned and steps ahead" | ||||
On
30 November, 2012, a conference "The 2012 Parliamentary elections: lessons
learned and steps ahead", organized by the Council of Europe was held in Tbilisi
with the assistance of the Government of Switzerland. The event was attended by
the Director of Democratic Governance, Culture and Diversity, Council of Europe,
Claudia Luciani, the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia David Usupashvili,
the Ambassador of Switzerland Guenther Baechler, government officials, leaders
of the political parties, heads of diplomatic missions, Georgian and foreign
experts, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations.
Discussions were organised around four themes: the legal framework and election
administration, campaign finance and administrative resources, the role of media
and civil society, steps ahead. The participants adopted the
conclusions
concerning the conduct of the 2012 Parliamentary elections and the main steps
